c. 1870s Eisenmann CDV Photo Landon Middlecoff The Kentucky Giant Circus Oddity

$0.00

I am pleased to offer this Antique Late-1800s Eisenmann CDV Photograph of the Famous Landon Middlecoff!

Landon Middlecoff was billed as “The Kentucky Giant Boy” and stoof 7′ 6″ Tall.

He also toured in the early 1880s with another tall man, and they were dubbed “The Middlecoff Brothers”.

This original CDV photograph shows Landon standing next to an average size woman, presumably his wife Helen.

The CDV was taken by the famous Charles Eisenmann, a photographer from the Bowery district in New York City.

Eisenmann’s work, which dates from the Victorian-era “Gilded Age” (1870-1890), focused almost exclusively on the “freaks” of the circuses, sideshows, and living museums of New York’s Bowery area. He began photographing circus people, which was widely received due to the popularity of the dime museums and the PT Barnum circus in New York.

Measures approx. 2-7/16″ W x 4-1/8″ H
