$70.00

I am pleased to offer this Antique Photograph that features the city street corner of 7th and Filbert, as what appears marked on back, dated 12/7, 1896; photographed by Marriott C. Morris, Philadelphia.

Notice the beautiful architecture with empty horse carriages on the street and business signs like GW Bean & Co Perfumery and Philada Photo Electrotype Co.; only a couple of people are visible.

Marriot C. Morris, a member of the prominent Quaker family descended from Philadelphia merchant Anthony Morris, was an amateur photographer, philanthropist, executor and trustee of estates, and founder of the Germantown Boys’ Club.

He began his photographic career while a student at Haverford College, Haverford, Pa. from 1881-1885 by photographing his classmates, the college campus, and his family’s Germantown residence known as the Deshler-Morris House.

Lovely city scene of Philadelphia!
