Antique c. 1904 British Brass Advertising Vesta Case Imperial Bramble Golf Ball

  • Very Nice and Unique Vesta Case from the Early 1900s
  • Silver finished brass with hinged lid and repousse embellishments
  • On side reads “British Insulated and Helsby Cables LTD – Helsby”
  • The other reads: “Imperial Ball” with a Bramble Golf Ball in the center
  • Likely manufactured Early 1900s , pre- WWI
  • Measures approx. 1-1/2″ x 2-5/8″
  • Displays quite nicely.

The British Insulated and Helsby Cables LTD name dates to the English firm in 1904.    They produced many various industrial related products, however the also produced a various rubber core golf balls.

I’ve found examples of other similar balls they produced, like “The Mersey”, but have not seen an example of the “Imperial”.  It appears like the balls of the time it had the bramble pattern of raised dimples

Description

Excellent overall condition with light loss to the original silver finish. Mild patina and light scratching from age. Lid is functional and hinge is tight. Displays very well.
