Very Scarce Whole/Full Plate Thermoplastic Union Case
Listed in Berg (top) as 3-1 Geometric, and (bottom) 3-2 Geometric
3-1 was known to be manufactured by Littlefield. Parsons and Co. (1857-1866)
This case was originally purchased by the Hartford Manufacturing Co. and was modified to be a table knife display box (hence the markings on the velvet).
The velvet was likely removed on the one side so the case could be used for it’s original purpose, holding and displaying a full plate photograph.
Measures approx. 9-1/8″ x 7-1/8″ x 1-1/4″ (Pepsi Can is for size reference, NOT INCLUDED :] )

Description

Good overall condition for its age. There is some mild scratching to the exterior, and some very light chipping along the edges. Hinges are in good shape, and the clasps catch and work well.One side of the interior compartments shows heavy scratching to the original purple velvet, and the other side is missing the velvet completely.
