* Important Note: Austin Augustus Turner (c.1831-1866) was a rather famous person in his time for Photography. Particular to Daguerreotypes and Ambrotypes, Turner was much in demand in the mid 1850s, and represented Mather Brady’s gallery for some time.
While in Paris in 1856, he became familiar with the new advances in photomechanical printing. He returned home to patent a method of photolithography in 1858, which then consumed the rest of his life. He produced the first book of photomechaniclly printed photographs in the United States, “Villas on the Hudson”.
