Vintage 1960s Horikawa Japan Space Explorer Battery Op. Tin Toy Robots Sci-Fi GD

  • Very Cool Vintage Space Explorer by Horikawa Japan
  • C. 1969/early 70s
  • One of the many, many variants of the Astronaut toys released by Horikawa
  • This later version has the plastic free-swinging arms, plastic feet, and signature Horikawa opening chest plate (also plastic).
  • Powered by 2 “D” batteries (not included) the astronaut walks forwards, stops as the chest plate opens to reveal a “TV” which scrolls brightly colored graphics of a spacecraft operating in space.  The chest then closes and the toy repeats.
  • Stands approx. 11-1/2″ Tall
  • Absolute great addition to any space/robot collection

Good overall condition. Very light scratching across the body with very minimal paint loss. Tested with batteries and the toy operates well: walks a few steps, chest panel pops open, and the TV screen illuminates while scrolling space pictures. Repeats. One tab on the bottom of the right foot is gone, which allows the plastic to sit slightly askew.
