This beautiful small portrait medal has a raised side profile of the famous composer Mozart, and is marked “F. Stiasny” The back is stamped “Austria”.
Franz Stiasny (1881-1941) was a polish artist who produced a large series of portrait medals. His series focused around important figures in history, including writers, musicians and historic icons. Various medals were cast in Austria in the 1930s.
