Vintage 1930-40s College Letterman Sweater Military University of Tampa Florida

Nice vintage lot of items from a young man who attended the University of Tampa, then served in the military during World War II. These items give you a glimpse into the life of this man. Lot includes-

1- Vintage Photo of a sports team at the University of Tampa. Photo shows the team together at a Tampa area beach. The names of the players are written on the front of the photo. On the back someone wrote “Freshman Team U of T 1938″. Photo measures 5″ x 3 1/2”. In good condition, has faded slightly.

1- Cool looking long sleeved letterman sweater, sweater is a black knit with a yellow and red “T” on the front. “John Comparato”  is embroidered on the inside of the sweater in red thread. Label on inside of sweater is ripped and hard to read, looks like it says “Muzei Knit”. No sizing info on sweater. In good condition with expected wear and dust.

1-Red, yellow,  and black felt or wool hat that matches sweater.  This must have looked so cool when the hat and sweater were worn together! Main part of hat is red with a yellow brim, a large “T” and the number 42 is on the front of the hat. “Rat Comp” (a nickname?) is hand written on the outer and inner brim of the hat. Hat has a leather band on the inside. In good condition with expected wear, dirt and discoloration.

1-Large letterman “T”, yellow with red trim. T is 5 1/4″ tall and 3 3/8″ wide.  In good condition with expected wear, dirt and discoloration.

1-Set of numbers “42” yellow with black trim. “4” is 4″ tall and 3″ wide. “2” is 4″ tall and 2 1/2″ wide. In good condition with expected wear, dirt and discoloration.

1-Metal football charm, light copper-colored. Charm says “John Comparato ’41 U of Tampa”. Charm measures 7/8″ wide and 5/8″ tall including metal loop. Charm is in good condition, has some tarnish.

4-Military dog tags. Two tags are tied onto one piece of twill tape, both tags are tarnished and say “John M Comparato, 0-1316826 T42-43A, Mrs John Comparato 20 E 3rd St, Jacksonville Fl, C”. Twill tape is worn, discolored and dirty. Two other tags are on chains, one is a necklace chain, the other a wrist chain. Both tags are tarnished and say “John M Comparato, 0-1316826 T42-43A, Mrs John Comparato 20 E 3rd St, Jacksonville Fl, C”. Metal chain in good condition, shows some discoloration.

1-Military ID Cards inside a folding cover. The cover has an official seal on the front and says “War Department, Washington DC, Officers Identification Card No. 570771 (numbers are hard to read, these may be wrong) The front of the folding cover also has punch holes at the bottom.

The back of the cover is faded and worn with text explaining what to do in case of an emergency, along with a warning. Open cover up and you can see a photo of John Camparato along with his fingerprints and military ID info. Cards inside the folder include vaccination and immunization records and a veterans ID card.
