Rare Early German Tin Windup Clown Pig Rider Toy 1910s-1920s Possibly Distler

  • Very Fun and Desirable Early German Tin Toy
  • A medium sized embossed tin Clown Riding a Pig, who could ask for more?
  • Vibrantly lithographed throughout, marked “Made in Germany” on the blanket
  • Particularly interesting as it has been listed by many as Gunthermann, Tippco, Fischer, Distler, etc.
  • I’m not 100% on the manufacturer, but to me the design points to 1910s-1920s period Germany, and resembles closer to Gunthermann or Fischer.
  • Appears to be a  variation similar to the popular Lehmann Toy “Paddy the Pig”
  • Fixed Key windup, tested and working well.  The clown pops up/down as the Pig rocks back/forth.
  • Measures approx. 5″ L x 1-7/8″ W x 5″ H
  • Great addition to any collection!

Description

Good overall condition. Mild scratching and a few spots of oxidation across the litho. Litho remains largely intact with little loss. The original string reins are very brittle and are not attached to the clown’s hands. The wind up is working well.
