Rare 1930s Andre Citroen Fire Truck Tin Wind Up Toy France Large Scale 15″ L

$0.00

I am pleased to offer this Antique 1930s Andre Citroen Fire Truck Tin Wind Up Toy!

These scarce large scale cars are highly sought after by collectors, as their craftsmanship and limited production stand them out in the world of toys!

Andre Citroen, known as the “Henry Ford” of the European Automotive World, was a French engineer and founder of Citroen Automobiles (1919).  He had the idea to produce very detailed tin toys of his cars, as it would establish brand recognition and favoritism early in childhood.  However when it was realized that when the children were old enough to buy a car they would want a new model, the toy production was ceased.

This particular toy is a large tin version of a Citroen B14 Fire Truck, which dates to the early 1930s.  The Truck features front steering, open bench seating, high mount support ladder, both hose reels, original clockwork motor, headlight housing (no bulbs), original Pneu Michelin Rubber tires.

Does not come with original firemen, or wind key.

Measures approx.  15″ L x 6″ W x 9″ H

Description

The body shows very light scratching, and retains the majority of original red paint. The front grill is loose. The back trailing hose reel is missing its handle, and the mounted reel section is detached from the body. Both hoses look to be non-original. The original tires show cracking, but still roll well. The wind up needs work, but is semi-functioning (winds but gears do not catch) needs a little TLC.
