Photograph shows some moderate speckled staining and light scratching from age. Card shows some mild edge wear and some light discoloration as well. One of extremely few photographs of Colby.

- Amazing and quite rare Original Cabinet Card Photograph
- c. late 1880s-early 1890s
- Photograph of American Spiritualist Luther Colby (1814-1894). Classically posing like an editor/publisher with his finger marking a page in a book.
- Colby was the co-founder of the journal “Banner of Light”, which began in Boston 1857 along with friend William Berry. He was the editor until his death in 1894.
- Banner of Light was the longest running and most influential publication of its kind in the 19th century. It even had its own resident medium, Mrs. Frances Ann Conant
- Card marked Elmer Chickering, 21 West Street, Boston, Mass.
- Back is signed “Luther Colby” which I believe is his own signature.
- Measures approx. 4-1/4″ x 6-1/2″
