Antique Marx 1930 Amos ‘n’ Andy Fresh Air Taxi Tin Windup Toy VG Working

$0.00

I am pleased to offer this Antique Marx Toys Amos ‘N’ Andy Fresh Air Taxi Tin Wind Up Toy from the 1930’s.  This awesome piece of toy and radio history depicts the dynamic duo driving in their own company taxi!  When you wind it up and move the switch, the tin emulates the rickety starting of the old taxi by shaking it back and forth, then takes off driving forward!  The figures of Amos and Andy, their dog, Meter Flag, Plastic Windshield, and Horseshoe radiator cap are all present making this toy complete!

Amos Jones and Andy Brown worked on a farm near Atlanta, Georgia, and during the episodes of the first week, they made plans to find a better life in Chicago, despite warnings from a friend. With four ham-and-cheese sandwiches and $24, they bought train tickets and headed for Chicago, where they lived in a State Street rooming house and experienced some rough times before launching their own business, the Fresh Air Taxi Company

This Fresh Air Taxi is in great working condition!  The car shows some light paint loss overall, and some light oxidation across the radiator, wheels, and undercarriage.  Light scratches are present across the rear, as well as the three characters in the car from bouncing around (please review photos for detailed pictures of the mentioned damage).

When wound, the car acts like it is starting up rough, as if back firing (sometimes sticks), and then moves forward fairly quickly; then it will stop and start again, causing the three characters inside to bounce back and forth! There is also a functioning “shifter” that acts as a stop/go switch. Fantastic condition for an original 1930s Marx Toy!

Measures approx. 5-1/4″ H x 3-3/4″ W x 8″ Long
