I am pleased to offer this Antique Japanese Copper Hand Mirror with Original Box!
This beautiful Japanese hand mirror has a depiction of an island being hit by waves under a crescent moon.
The handle has its original reed-type grip, and the reverse side has a silver mirror finish.
The mirror comes in its original fitted wood box.
The mirror looks to be copper or perhaps bronze that was silvered for the mirror like finish. The mirror style resembles those of late Edo period Japan, however no signature is seen so exact date in unknown.
The mirror measures approx. 9-1/2″ Diameter with a 4″ L x 1-3/4″ W handle.

This antique mirror is in good condition, showing some dark patina to the picture side of mirror. There is moderate loss to the silver finish on the mirror side, revealing the underlying metal. The original box shows some heavy shelf wear in cracking to the paint and a large crack to the lid (see photos). There is slight spots of oxidation visible on both sides and the rim.
