Antique c. 1858 Critchlow 1/9th Plate Geometrical Union Case w/ Ambrotype

I am pleased to offer this Antique c. 1858 A.P. Critchlow 1/9th Plate Octagonal Thermoplastic Geometrical Union Case!

This wonderful case has an elegant geometrical pattern on both sides, and retains its original manufacturers label-see photos.

The case also has a lovely rich wine colored velvet pillow inside the lid.

The case holds an ambrotype photograph of a Confused 3-Year Old Girl from Buffalo, NY!  This little girl has an odd expression on her face, like she is unaware of how to feel at that moment.

The ambrotype is in a brass oval mat as well as a preserver, and the mat is marked by W.C. North Buffalo, NY.  The back of the photo is reads “1858 3-Years Old”.

Case Measures approx. 3″ inches long x 2-1/2″ inches wide x 1/2″ inch in depth.

This antique ambrotype is in fair condition, showing a few large scratches to the photo. The brass mat & frame shows some mild tarnish, and a loose top corner on the preserver. The union case shows some mild scratching from storage, and two small chips along the edges.
