The photograph and card that is mounted to show heavy wear along the edges from age/storage. The top corners have been trimmed. There is visible moisture/water damage along the edges – and some moderate discoloration across the image. There are 4 punctures on the corners, presumably from a previous mounting. Cool piece of Naval History!

  • Very Cool Antique Large Photograph of the USS Illinois Rowing Team!
  • These handsome and fit young men pose in their race boat along with their coach/officer at the rudder
  • Most of the young men are wearing tank-tops with the Apprentice Knot insignia 
  • The back of the card is marked is original period writing ” Property of G.W. Epperson – U.S.S. Ill.”
  • It is also marked “Race Boat: – “U.S.S. Illinois” and “Photograph taken by Enrique Muller”
  • G.W. Epperson was one of the young sailors part of the team, as identified by other related photographs we have found
  • Measures approx. 9-1/4″ x 7-1/4″
