Antique 1/9th Plate Violet Glass Ambrotype Photo Man Strange Hair Partial Case

I am pleased to offer this Antique Purple Glass Ambrotype Photograph of a Man with very Strange Hair.  The man sits proudly upright with the strangest hair and a large bow tie.  His cheeks have been lightly hand-tinted.  The photo comes in an original  union case, which is missing the top right trim to the cover.  This ambrotype was made on a rarer purple glass.

The interior of the case is also stamped by the manufacturer: “Littlefield, Parsons & Co., Manufacturers of Daguerreotype Cases.  Sole proprietors and only legal manufacturers of Union Cases with the Embracing Riveted Hinge.  Patented October 14, 1856, and April 21, 1857”

This photo is in good condition, showing some light scratching and some light patina to the frame.  The case shows some light scratching and is missing the top right trim.

Measures approx. 3″ H x 2-1/2″ W x 7/8″ Thick
