  • Subject:  Unidentified Young Union Soldier, appears to be a Private.  Sits for a cropped in head shot, the end of his bayonet-affixed rifle on his shoulder.
  • Rear of the image has Photographer card inserted: “S. Shattuck, Ambrotype, Daguerreotype, and Photographic Artist, 19 Central St. Lowell.”  (Lowell, MA….Could be Sewall Shattuck)

Description

Good condition. Image shows some brush wear across it and some scratches near the man’s face. Moderate silvering along the mat edges with light abrasions. The mat and preserver show mild patina. The Case is in very nice shape, showing some mild surface wear on the exterior and a small chip on a corner. Hinges and a tad loose but holding, Clasp is functioning. LP & Co label intact.
