  • Great addition to your collection!

Note: The USS Monitor was a very interesting little battleship built by the Union Navy during the Civil War. It was the first ironclad that the Union built, and became famous for it’s pivotal roll in the Battle of Hampton Roads.  She sunk during a storm off Cape Hatteras, and was rediscovered in 1973 and partially salvaged.

Good overall condition. The case shows some moderate scratching and light chipping along the edges on both sides. Hinges are in good shape, clasp holds closed. Original manufacturer’s label and velvet sidewalls intact. Tintype shows some light dust and minor scratching from age. Their brass mats/preservers show some light patina but retain a nice luster.
