Vintage 1950s Horikowa Japan Battery Op. Fire Engine Mystery Action w/ Box Works

$100.00

I am pleased to offer this Vintage 1950s Battery-Operated Fire Engine Tin Toy by Horikowa!

This fire engine is constructed of very detailed and bright lithographed tin, with raised litho dials and gauges along the sides.

The underside has a battery compartment that takes 2 “C” batteries (not included) as well as a on/off switch.

When the toy is switched on, the engine will make a lot of noise as it drives forwards until it hits something, then it will turn itself.  Then the engine will stop and raise/lower the ladder.

The toy comes with its original box, which is trademarked by Horikowa Japan.

Engine measures approx. 8-1/2″ L x 2-7/8″ W x 4-1/2″ H

Description

This vintage fire engine is in good working condition, showing some light scratching to the tin. The metal trim pieces have lost most of their finish, and there is light oxidation present on them. The rubber tires show moderate wear, however they still roll and the engine moves. Tested with batteries and the toy functions as intended, quickly driving about and performing the actions. The original box shows heavy shelf wear, with some tears on the edges and mild staining.
