Vintage 1922 Toonerville Trolley Tin Windup Toy by Nifty Germany 7.5″

$450.00

I am pleased to offer this 1920s Toonerville Trolley Wind Up Tin Toy by Nifty!

This toy was taken from the popular comic strip, and resembles the famous trolley being driven by the character Skipper.

Each side of the toy is marked “Copyright 1922 by Fontaine Fox”.  The toy is constructed of lithographed tin, and features a fixed wind key on the left side.

When wound, the toy will putter in idle then drive forwards as Skipper turns the lever (then repeats).  This toy was made in Germany, and distributed by Nifty.

Measures approx. 7-1/2″ H x 4-7/8″ L x 2-7/8″ W

Description

This antique Toonerville Trolley is in good working condition for its age. There is mild scratching to the tin from use and display. The paint shows some wear and discoloration from age, however the piece still displays wonderfully. The windup mechanism is strong, and when wound the toy works as intended. There is one missing tab on the bottom, however the rest are present and unbent.
