Superb Antique 1930’s Album 220 Photos Chicago IL B.F. Gump Co Raymond Fulscher

$0.00

I am pleased to offer a vintage photo album featuring unique photographs of a family in Chicago.  This album was the property of Mr. Raymond Fulscher, who was an employee of the B. F. Gump Company in Chicago in the 1930’s.  Mr. Fulscher was a great amateur photographer, as can be seen in this album of over 200 images.

The album contains photos measuring 2 5/8″ X 2 5/8″ up to 8″ X 10″.  The album starts with a program printed for the “Annual Get-Together” of the B.F. Gump Company held February 25, 1938 at the Civic Opera Building in Chicago.  There are 33 photos of this party, and three typed pages done the next week by a secretary at the company describing the event in detail and listing all guest.  The evening included dinner, drinks, and a floor show involving such entertainers as Doris Hurtig and Virginia Cooper.  There are large formal photos of the officers and employees attending the party, as well as informal photos of performers, guests, and people having a good time.

The album then goes on to show a few photos taken of and from boats at the Columbia Yacht Club in Chicago.  The next few pages are of family images, including Christmas and other general photos of homes and people.  Next are photos of an office environment, maybe at B.F. Gump, showing many man and women posing beside their desks and counters.  There is also an 8″ X 10″ photo of a Hobart Coffee Grinder taken inside a grocery store.  The Gump Company made coffee machines, and this is in some way reference to that.  Next are more large Yacht Club and Lake photos, showing the Captain of the boat and riders enjoying cocktails.  The album concludes with more family photos, including those of a new baby.  There are also photographs of a delivery truck marked “Northway Cleaners and Dyers”, which looks to be a business owned by one of the family members, and a trip to Cleveland, Ohio including images of Byrd’s South Pole Ship dock.

This is quite an entertaining look at life in the 1930’s, and of a family’s life in Chicago.  All of the photos are glued to the pages of this album and all are in excellent condition showing no fading or major wear.  The album is missing the original cover, and includes only the inner pages of green paper.  The album measures 12 1/2″ X 10″ X 1″.
