Description

I am pleased to offer tis Rare Desirable c. 1830-1840 S.C. Wragg Sheffield Large Folding Hunting Knife!  This is truly a rare and exquisite example of an S.C. Wragg knife!

This knife is very hefty for its size, and has a lovely case/handle that is adorned with bone and mother of pearl beetles.  The blade is marked “S.C. Wragg 25 Furnace Hill Sheffield” and on the other side “XLNT”.  The blade is very stiff when opening/closing.

This is a rather large folding knife, and some refer to them as “folding bowie”.  The blade measures approx. 5-1/2″ Long x 1″ W, and the case approx. 6-1/2″ L x 1-1/4; giving a total length of 12″ when open.

This antique knife is in good antiquated condition.  The blade has darkened, but both of the markings are clearly visible.  There are 3 small pits to the edge of the blade, and moderate scratching.  The case shows moderate scratching and what appear to be a few spots of repair to the black wood.
