Antique Rare 1930s Borgfeldt Mickey & Minnie Mouse Playland Windup

I am pleased to offer this Antique 1930s era Mickey and Minnie Mouse Playland Celluloid Windup Toy.  This great early Disney toy is constructed of a metal frame supporting a tin “candy cane” tube that the celluloid Mickey and Minnie stand upon.  Both Mickey and Minnie are standing atop a celluloid ball, as Mickey holds a metal hoop in one hand and Minnie holds a bell.  The top of the toy features a cardboard decorated banner with character faces and text that reads: “Mickey and Minnie Mouse Playland; Copyright Walt. Disney Enterprises, LTD. Distributors: Geo. Borgfeldt Corporation, New York”.

They toy itself was made by Kuramochi & Co., LTD  (The Japanese Toy Manufacturer) and has their “C.K” diamond trademark on the Original Box Label and the cardboard toy banner as well.  The toy was imported/distributed by Borgfeldt in the United States.  The original Box has a bright colorful logo atop a beautiful checkerboard pattern.

Both of the celluloid balls has a raised “Made in Japan” on the rear sides.  Minnie’s ball also retains an original “©Walt Disney Enterprises LTD Japan” sticker.

The toy is in great overall working condition, showing some very very light scuffing from play wear, and some barely noticeable oxidation on the frame.  When wound, the “candy cane” pipe swings back and forth like a pendulum as Mickey and Minnie move their arms and spin.  Minnie’s face is slightly dented inwards (please see photos).  Cardboard banner shows some very light creases and some light staining near 1 corner.  Original Box is in great condition as well, showing some very light edge wear overall.

This is a rare Disney toy that would make a fantastic addition to any collection!!

Toy measures approx. 10-1/2″ H x 9-3/4″ L x 5-1/2″ W ; Original box measures approx. 10-1/2″ L x 5-1/2″ W x 1-7/8″ H
