Antique Huge Cast Bronze Eagle Marble Base Cigar Ashtray

$1,999.95

I am pleased to offer this Stunning Antique Early 1900s Cast Bronze Rising Eagle Sculpture with a Massive Marble Base!

This eagle is posed to take flight from its perch, wings spread in height has it would begin to lift itself to the air.  The gaze is striking off into the distance, slight right, as if it has found its prey and is intent on the hunt.  The piece is hollow cast bronze, with an exquisite inset beak. The detailing across the piece is lovely, especially to the underside of the wings

The eagle is perched on a mammoth deep green oval marble tray, that has a polished tray area and a natural formation that makes the eagle appear to be on a cliff or mountain top.  The back is elusively engraved “Germany”.

The only markings I could find on the eagle were the number 2 on the underside of each leg.  There appears to be very faint lettering, however it is impossible to make out.

The piece is in very good condition for its age.  The eagle shows a slightly darkened patina, and some areas of loss to the luster finish.  Some areas under the wings show a colorful, iridescent sheen.

The marble base has two chips along the upper rim, Viewer’s right ride. There is some light dust from display, and some very light scratching (more so on the underside).

The eagle is held to the base via two posts, secured on the underside by two large nuts.  The eagle will be removed from the base for shipping.

Eagle measures approx. 16″ Wing tip-wingtip, 8-1/2″ Tall x 9″ Deep.

Base measures approx. 15-1/2″ W x 10-1/2″ Deep x 3-1/2″ Tall
