$749.95

  • Excellent shot of a 19th Century Fireman
  • My best estimate is c. 1860s-70s
  • Fireman proudly poses in his parade uniform, holding a horn.  His hat is marked with a large “4”, and his belt reads “Saco, ME”
  • trimmed 1/6th plate tintype, paired with brass mat, preserver and glass
  • Nicely housed in an appropriately themed brown thermoplastic union case
  • “The (Volunteer) Fireman” – Berg 1-95 Rare, Krainik 116
  • Great addition to any firefighting collection!

Description

Great overall condition. The tintype is a cut-down sixth plate with trimmed vertical edges. There are a couple of small scratches on the image. Clarity is focused on his center, his hat slightly blurred. Brass mat and preserver show some moderate bending and patina. The case is in good condition, with some degradation on the lower lid corner and very small fleabite chips along the edges. Hinges are in good shape and clasp is functional. Interior label intact.
