Antique Cabinet Card Abolitionist Henry Ward Beecher

$24.95

I am pleased to offer this Antique Cabinet Card featuring Notable Slavery Abolitionist Henry Ward Beecher. Mr. Beecher was an American Congregationalist clergyman, social reformer, and speaker known for his support of the abolition of slavery, his emphasis on God’s love, and his 1875 adultery trial. He is wearing a suit and a bow tie, and he has his hair smoothed back. This photo was taken at Conly Studio in Boston, MA. The studio name is prominently displayed in gold gilding and the card has a matching border. The edges of the card show some wear. The photo is in good shape but there are some stains and marks consistent with age and wear. The studio name is on the back and handwritten in pencil is “Beecher” and “35 cts.”

Measurements: approx. 6-1/2″ inches tall x 4-1/4″ inches wide
