  • Acquired from a collection in Maine, storied that the man was a fisherman / whaler out of New Bedford, MA.
  • Although he definitely looks the part, there are not identifying markings or indication of origin or identification.
  • Ornate brass mat, preserver and protective glass
  • Nicely housed in a 1/4 Plate Deep Brown thermoplastic case with #3 hinges. Noted as one of Peck’s earliest composition cases.

Description

Image has multiple crease lines from bends, two indents near the top of his head, and very light scratching. Creases are not very noticeable when viewed directly. Brass mat and preserver show some mild patina and bending. Case is in good overall condition, and displays nicely. Exterior has a few small chips along the edges. The hinges are operable, with some cracking near the peening (common for these #3 hinges). Paper backing has discoloration.
